We spent an action-packed 11 days criss-crossing the USA in our usual fashion- we are determined to have performed in all 50 states eventually! Two of our concerts were repeat-engagements, which is always a delight as it gives us an opportunity to catch up with people we've met previously. It's also an advantage when we know the organ and acoustic of a venue, although we do get a kick out of playing in new places too!
A particular highlight of this trip was our visit to St Augustine, Florida, the oldest city of the USA and home to the glorious Cathedral Basilica, where we performed on 20th October. Rehearsing there the evening before our concert we reflected on how lucky we musicians are to see these beautiful buildings when they are closed to the public (we had exactly the same thought when rehearsing for our recital at St Paul's Cathedral in London a few years ago), and it was especially magical to see the stained glass windows changing as the sun was setting.
Once again we were beautifully looked after in every location of our tour and were delighted to meet some wonderful people.
We are already looking forward to our return next year!
